Client Objective
Allergan’s GC, Bob Bailey, wanted to introduce a more competitive process for engaging outside counsel in order to control and reduce external legal spend. He tasked his Head of Litigation with finding a tech solution that would be really easy for their attorneys to use, drive greater usage of AFAs, and deliver a really clear ROI.

The solution
By implementing PERSUIT’s competitive bidding platform, Allergan was able to formally evaluate its top-tier preferred firms in a mini-RFP process, obtain fixed fee proposals within five days, and leverage a one-hour auto-negotiation period. During which, firms had the transparency to see their price ranking in PERSUIT and could then revise their prices to improve the competitiveness of their proposals.
The results
During the 1-hour auto-negotiation period, there were 64 price revisions and two of the four law firms reduced their total price by over 50% (from $1.9m to $900k). This process saved Allergan $1M and, in its very first formal use of PERSUIT, Allergan was able to achieve a 10x return on its investment using the PERSUIT technology.
